In May 2023, alarmed by the closing of three nursing homes in Champaign County and its impact on access to care for area residents, a group of individuals decided to work together to advocate for quality, affordable, and innovative skilled nursing care in our county. Advocates for Aging Care (AAC), formerly Advocates for Nursing Home Care, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, was created to better understand the impact of the shortage of skilled nursing care for older citizens and their families, and address any deficits.
Our group is working with local government officials, non-profit administrators, health officials and numerous concerned citizens to outline strategies, and develop a plan for providing skilled nursing care and associated needed health care services for the elderly in our community. We want to position Champaign County as a destination known for the innovative services and facilities for aging individuals.
To make Champaign County a safe, innovative, and high-quality community for aging residents.
